Hektor "Begging" Mens Polo
50% of profits will be donated towards Syringomyelia research in memory of Hektor who didn't live to see his second birthday.
The money will go to Dr. Clare Rusbridge, leading in Syringomyelia research in Europe. Together we can help her, help other dogs like Hektor!
Syringomyelia is an extremely serious condition in which fluid-filled cavities develop within the spinal cord near the brain. The back half of the skull is typically too small to accommodate all of the brain’s cerebellum, which may also be too large, and so it squeezes through the hole at the back of the skull – partially blocking the flow of cerebrospinal fluid down the spinal cord. Image blocking the flow of water from a hose. This results in neurological problems and bad headaches etc.
SM is rare in most breeds but has become very widespread in cavalier King Charles spaniels and the Brussels Griffons. Statistics can't even keep up with the pace any more. The severity and extent of syringomyelia also appear to get worse in each succeeding generation.
